Tommy Thompson park is located on a man-made peninsula, known as the Leslie Street Spit, which extends five kilometres into Lake Ontario.Tommy Thompson Park represents one of the largest existing areas of natural habitat along the Toronto waterfront. Birds and other wildlife flourish in habitats that include wildflower meadows, cottonwood forests, coastal marshes, cobble beaches, and sand dunes.
